The clay landscapes of the calanchi

Montalbano Jonico

Clay ridges, deep grooves and sweeping views: the calanchi form a remarkable landscape. From the village, look out over this lunar world, especially beautiful in the afternoon light.

For walks in the reserve, choose a suitable route and ask local guides about current trail conditions.

The white houses of Dirupo

Pisticci

Rows of little white houses in the Dirupo quarter invite you to wander among charming views and small details. Round off the day at Essenza Lucano, the museum devoted to the history of Amaro Lucano.

The Essenza Lucano museum is in Pisticci Scalo, away from the old town: allow for a journey by car.
