Terre del Faro

Terre del Faro is a farm in the characteristic Lucanian countryside, among the scents of orange blossom and lemons, just 40 minutes from beautiful Matera, European Capital of Culture in 2019.

Terre del Faro grew out of the restoration of an old farmhouse and adjoining storehouses built in 1950 during the land reform, when large baronial estates were divided into plots and assigned to farming families.

On plots divided by parallel farm roads leading towards the sea, old farmhouses form small neighbourhoods that bear witness to the area's past.

What makes Terre del Faro special is its setting: surrounded by the quiet green countryside, close to both the sea and the village, and among old farmhouses that recall the cooperation and hard work of farming families of the past.

A farmhouse nestled among citrus groves, close to a beautiful sea. The apartments are thoughtfully designed and very comfortable. When we arrived, we found a welcome tasting of products from the Altieri family's farm. And breakfast was a kaleidoscope of flavours. Only one word describes it: magnificent!

We left a little piece of our hearts at Terre del Faro when we departed.

The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. We tasted the farm's products, which are very good, and the apartment was clean and had everything we needed.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The property is beautiful and peaceful. The house has everything needed for a pleasant stay, and we even did our laundry while we were there.
The beach is only a couple of minutes away.
The owner was incredibly kind and helpful. On arrival, we found two glasses of wine and snacks left for us in the kitchen. One starter was cheese with homemade orange marmalade. It was the most delicious starter I have tasted in Italy so far!
The property is set in an orange grove. On arrival we found a basket of oranges too: the tastiest I have ever had!
A lady who lives on the property, which has several units, gave us a delicious piece of cake and was so kind. I wish I spoke Italian, as I would have liked to chat with her more. The place was very quiet and peaceful, and you certainly do not have to talk to anyone unless you want to.
We fell in love with the adorable, friendly little dogs around the property. Guests do not need to pay them any attention if they prefer not to, but I did, and I loved them so much!
The owner makes her own preserves and jams. You can buy them, which I definitely recommend, because they are delicious! We would have bought more than two jars, but there was no room left in our luggage. She ships worldwide, though, so we will order more when we get home.
I wish our stay had been longer because I felt so comfortable in the bed and on the property in general. I felt right at home.
I did not take many photos because we were there for only a couple of days (and one night), but it was enough to make me want to return one day!

Everything! A fantastic apartment, carefully arranged, clean, very pretty and with everything working; we lacked nothing. It was a lovely surprise, close to the sea and the town centre. The outside area was beautiful too, with a huge outdoor shower! And what a welcome from Giusy and her mother: warm, kind and always helpful. I found nothing negative. Excellent value for money; we stayed two nights in August. Congratulations!
